1. When the GDPR applies
Pray4me is a Nigerian service governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Because we offer prices and services to people in the European Union, the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR) and the UK GDPR also apply when we process the personal data of people there. This page adds to our Privacy Policy, which describes what we collect and why.
2. Controller and contact
The controller is Pray4me (p4me.ng). Our software and administration are provided by Plovtech Solutions IRL, 77 Lower Camden Street, Dublin, D02 XE80, Ireland, as our processor. Our data protection contact is hi@p4me.ng.
3. Legal bases (GDPR Article 6 and 9)
| What we do | GDPR legal basis |
|---|---|
| Running your account, sign-in, sign-in and reset codes | Art. 6(1)(b) — performance of a contract |
| Sharing your prayers and comments with members (these can reveal religious beliefs or health) | Art. 6(1)(a) consent and Art. 9(2)(a) explicit consent for special category data |
| Security, fraud and abuse prevention, traffic and audit logs | Art. 6(1)(f) — legitimate interests (keeping members and the service safe) |
| Replying to your messages | Art. 6(1)(f) legitimate interests, or 6(1)(b) steps you asked for |
| Payments and accounting records (when payments start) | Art. 6(1)(b) contract and 6(1)(c) legal obligation |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have balanced them against your rights; you can object at any time (section 4).
4. Your rights
| Right | What it means at Pray4me |
|---|---|
| Access (Art. 15) | A copy of the personal data we hold about you, and how we use it |
| Rectification (Art. 16) | Correct your details — also possible yourself in My account › Edit my details |
| Erasure (Art. 17) | Delete your account, prayers and comments, unless the law requires us to keep something |
| Restriction (Art. 18) | Ask us to pause using your data while a concern is checked |
| Portability (Art. 20) | Your account details and the prayers you shared, in a common machine-readable format |
| Objection (Art. 21) | Object to processing based on legitimate interests |
| Withdraw consent (Art. 7(3)) | Ask us to remove a prayer or comment at any time |
| Automated decisions (Art. 22) | We make no decisions about you by automated means alone — a person reviews shared content |
5. How to make a request
- Email hi@p4me.ng from the address on your Pray4me account, with the subject “Data request” and which right you want to use.
- We may ask you to confirm your identity (for example with a code sent to your email) so nobody else can obtain your data.
- We reply within one month. If a request is complex we may extend this by up to two further months and will tell you why.
- Requests are free. We may refuse or charge a reasonable fee only for requests that are clearly unfounded or excessive, as the law allows.
6. International transfers
Pray4me is based outside the EU/UK, so your data is transferred to Nigeria and to the countries where our providers operate. We protect these transfers with an adequacy decision where one exists, or with the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum) or another safeguard recognised by the GDPR. You can ask us for details at hi@p4me.ng.
7. Retention
We keep data only as long as described in the Privacy Policy, for example website traffic records for 30 days and sign-in codes for 10 minutes.
8. Complaints
Please contact us first so we can put things right. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority:
- in the EU/EEA, the authority in the country where you live or work (in Ireland, the Data Protection Commission);
- in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office;
- in Nigeria, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
9. Members in Nigeria
For members in Nigeria, the same rights apply under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023: to be informed, access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent and portability, and protection from decisions made solely by automated means. Use the same email, hi@p4me.ng.
